Katherine
- Sourced Responsibly
Our Katherine Ring (named after Katherine Johnson and her pioneering work in mathematical precision), features a stunning continuous line of brilliant princess cut diamonds set in a sleek channel setting. This sophisticated eternity band showcases exceptional craftsmanship with precisely cut square diamonds that create an unbroken circle of sparkle around the entire band. The secure channel setting protects each diamond while allowing maximum light to enter from every angle, creating brilliant flashes of fire and light. The smooth, polished finish and comfortable fit make this ring perfect for daily wear, whilst the timeless design ensures it will remain elegant for generations. Perfect for those who appreciate mathematical precision and continuous brilliance.
Johnson's passion for geometry was perfectly suited for calculating spacecraft trajectories, which she described as parabolic curves - telling NASA "You tell me when you want it and where you want it to land, and I'll do it backwards and tell you when to take off" NASASpace.com. Her mathematical precision helped land humans on the moon and return them safely home, making her the perfect namesake for a ring that celebrates the beauty of continuous, flawless brilliance in perfect mathematical harmony.

20 Ebenezer Place, Adelaide, 5000, South Australia.
This ring honours Dorothy Hodgkin, a pioneering English chemist who advanced X-ray crystallography to determine the structure of biomolecules. Born in 1910, she became fascinated with crystals at age 10 when her mother gave her a book by William Henry Bragg describing how to "shine X-rays through a crystal to discover the arrangement of its atoms." Through extensive X-ray diffraction images and astute analysis, she successfully determined the structures of penicillin in 1946 and vitamin B12 in 1956, revolutionizing laboratory practice by using early computers for the complex calculations required. Her work on vitamin B12 was described as equivalent to "breaking the sound barrier" - she had unravelled a molecule with 100 atoms, an unprecedented feat at the time. After 35 years of work, she finally solved the structure of insulin in 1969. In 1964, she won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, becoming the third woman ever to receive this honour and the only British woman to win a Nobel Prize in science. Despite suffering from rheumatoid arthritis from her late twenties, she remained generous, humble and hard-working throughout her career, never letting her condition deter her from her ground-breaking research. Like the precise crystalline structures she revealed, our Dorothy ring celebrates order, determination, and the beautiful clarity that emerges from methodical dedication to one's craft.
Our skilled team digitally creates all images in our 'Create Your Ring Online' selection. The images are not photographs but are photorealistic. Most are designed with the aid of AI, and many start with a sketch on paper or Procreate as their foundation. Many are reworked with Photoshop. This is to create the most accurate images of rings that are yet to be made, providing a representation of how these rings will look in person. Once you choose your design, we will create your ring to the specifications you have chosen, including width and ring size. We guarantee your ring will be very close to, if not exactly the same as, the supplied images in line with Australian consumer law. The ring you will receive is unique to you.
