Jewellery repairs — Adelaide

Worn, broken,
or just tired — fixable.

Most jewellery problems are smaller than they look. A worn claw, a broken chain, a ring that no longer fits — all everyday work for our bench. We repair the pieces we make, and in most cases jewellery made elsewhere too, in our Adelaide workshop.

What we repair

The usual suspects, and the unusual ones.

  • 01ResizingRings sized up or down, done so the join disappears — and honest advice when a design will not resize cleanly.
  • 02Worn claws and settingsClaws wear thin long before they let go. Re-tipping or rebuilding them is the repair that saves stones.
  • 03Chains, clasps and catchesBroken chains soldered properly, tired clasps replaced with ones that will actually hold.
  • 04Replacing lost stonesMatching a missing stone takes a trained eye — colour, cut and proportion, not just size. It is work we do often.
  • 05Refinishing and rhodium platingPolishing out the years, re-plating white gold, and bringing a matte or hammered finish back to how it left the bench.
  • 06Rebuilds and everything elseWorn shanks rebuilt, hinges repaired, pearls restrung. If it is broken, bring it in — the answer is usually yes.

The honest part

We assess first — and sometimes the answer is no.

Every repair starts with a proper look under magnification, because what a piece needs is not always what it appears to need — and occasionally a repair is not the right call at all. Some pieces are too fragile to work on safely. Some were made in ways that do not take well to heat or re-working. And sometimes a repair would cost more than the piece can carry, and we would rather tell you that than take your money.

If we are not the right workshop for a particular job, we will say so — and point you toward what we would do in your position.

You will always know what we found, what we recommend, and what it will cost — before any work begins.

How it works

Simple, and no surprises.

01

Bring it in.

No appointment needed for a repair assessment — drop in with the piece and we will look at it with you.

02

We assess and quote.

We examine the piece under magnification, explain what it needs, and give you a clear quote and timeframe. If we spot other wear while we are in there — a second claw on its way out — we will tell you rather than let it fail later.

03

We do the work.

Repairs are carried out at our own bench in Adelaide — your piece stays with people you have met.

04

Back on your hand.

Cleaned, checked over, and returned — with anything worth keeping an eye on flagged for next time.

If it is an older or antique piece

Antique jewellery deserves more than a standard repair — it deserves restoring in keeping with how it was made. Our team specialises in exactly that.

Sometimes the honest answer is that a piece has had its life in this form. The gold and stones have not — they can become something new.
