Custom wedding rings, made exactly the way you want them
Every ring we make at Utopian Creations is made for one person, for one moment. Whether you have a clear vision or just a feeling, we work with you until it is exactly right — then custom make it.

We did not walk in knowing what we wanted. We walked out with something we will wear every day for life.
Utopian Creations client, 2024From first idea to finished ring
Custom does not have to mean complicated. Our process is designed to be straightforward, collaborative, and genuinely enjoyable. Here is what it looks like from start to finish.
Most rings take 6 to 10 weeks from consultation to collection day.
Consultation
We start with a conversation — in person at our Adelaide studio, or by phone or video if you are further afield. We talk about what you are drawn to, what you want to avoid, how it needs to fit with an existing engagement ring if that's a consideration, and roughly what you would like to spend.
Good to know
Sketches and homework if your really excited or just come as you are — we ask the right questions.
Design
Based on your consultation, we develop a design concept — drawings, CAD renders, or both. We revise until everything feels exactly right.
Good to know
Most clients are comfortable with the design after one or two rounds. We do not rush this part if possible. However, please let us know early if you have a tight timeline.
Manufacture
Once you approve the design, we get to work. We cast, mill or hand-make in your chosen metal, shape and finish to your exact specifications, and set any stones in Adelaide. Every piece is checked against the design at multiple stages.
Good to know
Your ring never leaves our hands until it is finished to our own high specifications.
Collection
We invite you back to collect your ring in person — so we can see you wear it for the first time, check the fit, and make any final adjustments on the spot. If you are not local, we ship fully insured with signature required.
Good to know
We size rings at no charge within two weeks of purchase and they receive a lifetime of complimentary cleaning.
Custom is not a style. It is how every ring we make begins.
The word gets used loosely in the industry. For us, it means one thing: your ring is designed and made from scratch, for you specifically, with no pre-existing mould or template involved.

Custom does not have to mean elaborate. It just means made for you.
It might be a 3mm plain round band in yellow gold — nothing more, nothing less. Or a 5mm flat court profile in platinum with a brushed finish. Or a fully contoured band shaped to nestle against your engagement ring, set with small diamonds across the top. All of these are custom. The word describes the process, not the complexity.
Width is the most common thing people want to specify. We describe rings as slender (2 to 3mm), classic (4 to 5mm), or broad (6 to 8mm) — and we can make any of those in any metal, any profile, any finish. If you know the width you want, you already have the most important decision made.
Designer note
The most common misconception we hear is that custom means expensive. A simple custom band can cost the same as a comparable off-the-shelf ring, because we are not marking up a middleman.
The spectrum of custom
Simple
Plain band, your way
A clean band — round, flat, or court profile — in your chosen metal, width, and finish. No stones, no shaping. Exactly right for people who want something timeless and understated.
e.g. 4mm flat court in rose gold, brushed finish · 3mm round in platinum, polished
Signature
Distinctive, not complex
A band with one considered detail — a particular texture, an engraved edge, a small stone or two, an unusual metal combination. Recognisable as yours without being ornate.
e.g. 5mm hammered yellow gold · 4mm with flush-set diamonds · twisted two-tone band
Fully bespoke
Shaped to your life
A band contoured to fit precisely against your engagement ring, or one with significant stone setting, an unusual shape, or a design that requires original modelling from scratch.
e.g. shaped contour band with pavé diamonds · curved band to match a halo · multi-stone eternity style

Twenty years of making things that matter
We have been making custom jewellery in Adelaide since 2005. Not designing it offshore and having it made somewhere else — actually making it, in our studio, with our hands. These days we also partner with the Palloys workshop in Sydney. They provide our certified Australian gold and 3D CAD design and casting. Keeping all our manufacturing in Australia matters more than it might sound.

We fit rings we did not make If your engagement ring came from another jeweller, we will still fit your wedding band to it perfectly. We work from the ring itself, not assumptions.

Things people usually ask us
These are the questions we hear most often at the start of the custom process. If something is not covered here, just ask — we are always happy to talk through the specifics.
Still unsure? Call us or book a consultation — there is no obligation.
How much does a custom wedding ring cost?
It depends entirely on the metal, width, and whether stones are involved. A simple plain band starts from around $1500 to $2000 depending on metal and width. A stone-set or contoured band will be more. We give you a fixed quote before any work begins — there are no surprises.
How long does the process take?
From first consultation to collection, most rings take 6 to 10 weeks. This includes the design phase, manufacture, and finishing. If you have a firm deadline — a wedding date, an anniversary — tell us early and we will plan around it.
Can you fit a band to my existing engagement ring?
Yes — and this is one of the things we do most often. We work from your actual ring, not a guess or a template. You bring it in, we assess the profile, and we shape the band to nestle flush against it. It does not matter who made your engagement ring.
Do I need to know what I want before the consultation?
No. Most people come in with a feeling rather than a plan, and that is completely fine. We ask the right questions to get to what you actually want. If you have images, bring them — but they are a starting point, not a specification.
If you want to explore ideas before we meet, our jwlry.design tool lets you visualise ring styles and share a shortlist with us in advance. Wedding rings coming soon.
What metals do you work with?
We work in yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, and platinum as standard — in 9ct, 14ct, and 18ct where applicable. We can also work in palladium on request. We source all metals from an Australian Responsible Jewellery Council Member. We can also make from recycled, fair trade or fairmined gold on request.
What if the ring does not fit after I collect it?
We size rings at no charge within 2 weeks of purchase to make sure your ring fits perfectly. Fingers change — with temperature, time of day, life events — and we plan for that. It's important your ring is perfect when starting its new life.
Can you make two matching rings for a couple?
Yes, and we do it often. Matching rings can be identical, or share a design element while differing in width or finish. We consult with both people together or separately — whatever works best for you.
