This ring has been named after the remarkable Jennifer Anne Doudna, a pioneering American biochemist and molecular biologist. Born on February 19, 1964, in Washington, D.C., Doudna developed a fascination with science early in life, inspired by reading "The Double Helix" by James Watson during high school. She earned her bachelor's degree from Pomona College in 1985 and her PhD from Harvard Medical School in 1989, specialising in RNA structure and function.
