No. Zircon is a natural gemstone. Cubic zirconia is a man-made diamond simulant. The names sound similar, but they are completely different materials.
Zircon can be used in rings, but it is not as hard or tough as sapphire, ruby or diamond. It is best suited to thoughtful designs with protective settings and careful wear. For a heavily worn everyday engagement ring, we would discuss the practical trade-offs carefully.
Zircon occurs in a range of colours, including blue, yellow, brown, orange, green and colourless. Blue zircon is especially admired for its bright colour and lively sparkle.
Zircon jewellery should be protected from hard knocks, harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners and unnecessary abrasion. Clean gently with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and have settings checked periodically.
