The gemstone held in this necklace has been hand-faceted in a rose-cut design by the master cutter Scott Langford. Rose cuts are an interesting part of gemstone history, first appearing in the 1400's and gaining huge popularity in the 1500's. Rose cuts fell out of favour as technology marched forward, enabling other styles of gem cutting. The rose cut never totally left, though, and has seen a renaissance over the last 20 years as it creates a lovely low profile, sparkly gemstone that is suited to organic styles of jewellery like our Poppy collection.

This particular rose cut is a lovely Topaz from O'Brian's Creek in Queensland. This is a beautiful part of the world, a small creek in the middle of a semi-desert, an oasis of plants, animals and crystals. We've set this topaz in rich 18k yellow gold, certified Australian and as with all our jewellery, responsibly source

This lovely handmade piece is perfect for everyday wear. It can be worn by itself or collect a little family of Poppy pendants.
