We are proud to introduce The Dorothy, a tribute to Professor Dorothy Hill (1907–1997)—a titan of Australian science, a pioneer of palaeontology, and the first female professor at an Australian university. Famous for her groundbreaking work on the Great Barrier Reef and fossil corals, Dorothy spent her life decoding the ancient history of the Australian landscape.

The Design: The Dorothy features a "scattered" asymmetrical eternity setting that mimics the organic growth of coral structures and the undulating rhythm of the ocean floor. The stones are clustered in varying sizes, creating a tactile, bubble-like texture that catches the light from every angle. It is a piece that feels alive—evoking the complex, thriving ecosystems of the reef waters Dorothy studied so passionately.

The Gemstones: In a fitting homage to Dorothy’s tenure at the University of Queensland, the centrepiece stones are 3.16 carats of Australian Sapphires unearthed in Rubyvale, Queensland.

• The Palette: These are a mix of untreated "Parti" sapphires, displaying the distinct bi-colour zoning and simple colour sapphires. The colours shift and shimmer like the reef itself—moving from deep ocean blue and lagoon teal to soft wattle yellow and bright green.

• The Sparkle: Interspersed among the cool tones of the sapphires are 0.67 carats of Australian Diamonds from the iconic Argyle mine in Western Australia. These E-F colour (colourless) diamonds act as cresting waves, adding intense flashes of brilliance to the deep saturation of the sapphires.

The Metal Set in lustrous 14k White Gold, the cool metal tone acts as a neutral canvas, allowing the verdant greens and blues of the sapphires to take centre stage.
