Extra notes: Very rarely we find small purple sapphires in Australia, generally well under 0.20ct in weight. In Sri Lanka on the other hand, purple sapphires are found quite often. They are still one of the rarest colours of sapphire and a treat to behold. This beauty comes from Sri Lanka and was hand picked on the ground by a lovely old gem specialist, a man who has been both a miner, cutter and gem dealer during his life.
