Turquoise | Utopian Creations

Turquoise is loved for its distinctive sky-blue to blue-green colour, often with natural matrix patterns that make each stone feel earthy, ancient and individual. It is also traditionally associated with the 11th wedding anniversary.

Turquoise has been treasured by many cultures for thousands of years, used in jewellery, carving and ceremonial objects. Its appeal comes from its soft, luminous colour and organic surface character rather than sparkle or high brilliance.

With a hardness of around 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, turquoise is softer than many gemstones used in fine jewellery. It can chip, scratch or wear if knocked against hard surfaces, so we do not usually recommend it for engagement rings or everyday rings. It is better suited to earrings, pendants, occasional-wear rings, or protective settings designed with care.

At Utopian Creations, our turquoise is typically sourced from Australian material, including Ammaroo Station in the Northern Territory and selected Victorian sources. Where origin details are known, we record them clearly so the story of each stone can be understood and appreciated.
