Emerald

Emeralds are a very rare gemstone, the world over. Australian Emeralds, even more so, as all commercial mining has ceased. We are very proud to have such a fantastic collection that has been carefully sourced over many years. The Emeralds you see before you are either hand fossicked or from old collections, generally old miners and gem cutters. These special pieces are part of Australia's gemstone and geological history. Emeralds are the birthstone of May and the gem of 20th and 35th anniversaries. Emeralds measure between 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale and are therefore more delicate than sapphires and diamonds and require a little more care. Their brilliant green colour is exclusive to emeralds and hue, tonal grade and saturation are all considered when being graded.
