salt-and-pepper-diamond-1-09ct-shield
Salt and Pepper Diamond | 1.09ct, Shield

Sourced from Africa through standard industry channels.

This shield-shaped salt and pepper diamond looks like ash carried on the wind across a pale sky. The specks are moderately dense, gathered in loose, uneven clusters that sit softly against the smoky grey of the stone.

Those specks are inclusions, tiny dark crystals, often graphite, and clouds of minute particles trapped as the diamond formed deep in the earth. A few larger dark crystals stand apart from the rest, and the grey body carries a subtle warmth. Like most salt and pepper diamonds, some of its inclusions reach the surface, so a setting that covers its point keeps it safe.

Set table up, the shield shape opens a window into the speckled pattern, with its clusters in clear view. Set upside down, the faceted base faces up and the light breaks across its angled facets. The photographs show it both ways.

Please be aware that photography and video cannot fully capture this stone. Our lightbox images are taken under artificial light, which can flatten a diamond's brilliance and hide the fire that shows in the hand. Video taken in natural light does the opposite, often reading cooler and darker than the stone appears in the hand. The truest impression sits between the two, so we recommend viewing both. Better still, view the stone in person, through an in-store consultation or our Gemstone Home Trial.

1.09ct Salt and Pepper Diamond – shield, faceted.
