Utopian Creations began it's life in 2005 as Australia's first fine and fashion eco friendly jewellery company. My wife, Lindy, and I had recently returned from a few years working and travelling the world. I spent much of this time researching the jewellery industry and its impacts on the environment and what I found shocked me and left me disappointed in my industry. Lindy and I witnessed first hand the huge strain our earth was under from human intervention and believed it was time for change. There had to be a better, safer and cleaner way. My search began and the seed for Utopian Creations was sown.

Four years on and it's still just the two of us -  well three as we have just welcomed our own little Utopian Creation into the world, our little boy Harper. And not to be left out of anything, Fudge the dog, and our chickens. To increase the sustainability of our company it is now home based, removing the huge carbon footprint of travelling back and forth to work. Our 'company car' is an old 1973 BMW in wonderful condition who's spare parts fight for space in our studio (carbon offset, of course). Thinking of buying a hybrid car? Think it's the eco option? Think again! Hopefully in the future I'll have the time or money to replace it's gas and oil heart for an electric motor. But until that time she's sitting undercover with little carbon footprint to think of as most trips to the post office are taken by bike.There is a huge veggie patch next to the studio and as a vegetarian it helps to provide me with energy that I convert into our jewellery. Our compost system also takes care of most of the studio's non recyclable waste, one of the great benefits of turning to eco-friendly consumables. I have almost completed the fit out of our eco studio. Fully insulated and made completely from salvaged materials, photos soon. 

The last four years have been a wonderful ride and we have made some fantastic friends. I have found the eco movement brings out the best in people and I truly believe we can have a lasting impact, or should I say, remove some of our lasting impact, improving our planet for the people, plants and animals that come after us. We began our journey to help the Earth and are able to continue our work thanks to you our caring customers, friends and family, Thank you all.
